Nebraska bill proposing strict abortion law could become law soon
LINCOLN, NE. - Nebraska could soon have one of the strictest abortion laws in the nation if Legislative Bill 626 becomes law. The bill, recently approved by committee, proposes banning abortions after an ultrasound can detect a "fetal heartbeat," which typically occurs around six weeks into a pregnancy. However, some doctors argue that it is not a "fetal heartbeat" until at least the tenth week of pregnancy when an embryo becomes a fetus.

In Afghanistan, the Taliban has further stifled women's rights by banning them from working at non-governmental organizations (NGOs). In a letter sent by the Ministry of Economy, the administration has ordered NGOs to prevent female staff members from coming to work. Amini, a 22-year-old who was arrested by Iranian police in Tehran for wearing her hijab too loosely, died on Sept. 16 after allegedly being beaten by police.
