The Calm After The Storm- Kubota Cleans up
The Calm After The Storm- Kubota Cleans up We have both been around the sun for over 50 years and may have finally figured out a few things about winter in Maine. 1. Having a good pair of boots and gloves/mittens is important. Those extremities are the first to freeze up. 2. When shoveling, bend at the knees and take small chunks at a time, especially if it's heavy wet snow. 3. Don't stress over it. We can't stop it from happening. Just start somewhere, and slowly clean up will get done. There is much more, but we can touch on it later on. The storm wasn't as crazy as predicted for us; for that, my body is thankful. It was still hard work though. So glad to have the beautiful sky and sun come out after the storm to make cleaning up a bit more enjoyable. Have fun and enjoy what is happening around you.
A Beautiful Day On The Homestead
A Beautiful Day On The Homestead Sometimes it's beautiful here after a storm passes. You get bluebird skies and bright sunshine to perk you up. Plowing can be monotonous, but I enjoy it on a day like today. Thank goodness we invested in this Kubota to help with clean up. A small storm blew through, but we still should plow. Part of our road has a very steep hill, and in the past, it has iced up and not been passible. It's not fun parking at the bottom and walking up a steep, slippery hill. (or should I say crawling) Until the sand guy can get it sanded for us. The chickens enjoy the snow if we keep it shoveled out for them. High protein snacks, like GrubTerra, are good this time of year to help keep them warm and keep those eggs coming. They will hang out under the deck during the day and head in when needed to lay eggs or get food. We are getting another storm today. Much bigger than any other one we have gotten this winter. I have the shovel and Kubota at the ready.
