Osteria Accademia: Fantastic Italian with an Academic Themed Ambiance
Osteria Accademia is a new Italian restaurant with Mediterranean overtones from restaurateur Huseyin Ozer of Upper West Side mainstays Bodrum and Leyla. Now partnering with Murat Akinci in this new venture. The duo conceived the restaurant with the Upper West Side residents in mind, creating an environment that makes them feel like they are in an Upper West Side brownstone dining room. The restaurant’s name is a nod to the universities, schools, and academies that the neighborhood is known for. Their goal for the restaurant is to provide the community with a cozy spot where it is easy to lose track of time over fine food, good wine, and intellectual conversation.
A worker died after falling 15 floors from the scaffolding of the UWS building.

Summary - A construction worker was placing netting around a supported scaffold on the 15th level when he fell onto the sidewalk shed below. The worker, who was wearing safety equipment, was pronounced dead at the site. The Department of Buildings is "doing a comprehensive investigation" to discover if "any corners were cut in the support structure," an official said.

Israeli-Mediterranean Restaurant Miriam Makes its Way to the Upper West Side
Miriam is a popular Park Slope restaurant that recently opened an additional location on the Upper West Side. Executive Chef/Owner Rafael “Rafi” Hasid is thrilled to bring his Israeli-Mediterranean dishes over to Manhattan. Located on 300 Amsterdam Avenue, Miriam’s Upper West Side location echoes design elements from their Park Slope restaurant, including Mediterranean arches and original tiles. The open dining room features a large brass and terrazzo bar and lush aquamarine banquettes. Custom lighting designs compliment the matching rose gold bar mirrors to softly illuminate the space. Walnut tables and chairs fill the dining area, and paintings scattered throughout complete the setting to create a warm interpretation of an all-day Mediterranean bistro.
