New Jersey increases highway patrols for "Click it or Ticket" campaign to enforce safe driving rules
This week, New Jersey is sending out additional patrols as part of the national "Click It or Ticket" campaign to ensure drivers wear seat belts and follow other safe driving rules.
Traffic Fatalities Reached a 16-Year High in 2021
New Data shows a 10.5% increase in vehicle fatalities from 2020 to 2021. In response to this crisis, earlier this year USDOT unveiled the National Roadway Safety Strategy. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released its early estimate of traffic fatalities for 2021.
High-speed rail from Southern California to Las Vegas will likely be constructed in 2023
A private rail company called Brightline Holdings is planning to build a rail line between Southern California and Las Vegas, Nevada. Brightline Holdings is the only private passenger rail company in the US. Construction is currently slated to begin in early 2023, and the company projects that by 2026, the rail line will be complete.

Aurora plans to borrow $35 million for street maintenance
(Aurora, Colo.) The rubber hit the road Monday during discussions on street repairs in Aurora. In response to a request by councilman Dustin Zvonek, city staff showed the City Council what it would cost $35 million through 2028 to make minor improvements to the city's streets.
Gov. Ducey plans to “finish the job” on I-10 expansion
The plans to expand the I-10 and improve the trip from Phoenix to Tucson announced this year are going full steam ahead, according to Gov. Doug Ducey. The $700 million project, announced during Ducey’s State of the State address in January, is focused on adding more lanes to the segment between Chandler and Casa Grande known as Wild Horse Pass. This part of the freeway is the last stretch to only have two lanes.

National Gas Price Surging To $4.50
The prices of gas are inching back up to record highs. This hike means inflationary woes for families, the economy, and the Biden administration. According to the AAA, the national average for regular petrol jumped to $4.328 a gallon on Monday. This figure is close to the all-time high of $4.331 set on March 11. Diesel prices are also rising. The national average hit a record of $5.54 a gallon. (source)

Baltimore seeking dockless vehicle companies to join Spin

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) will permit up to three dockless vehicle companies this year. One permit has already been awarded to Spin, whose permit was renewed for another year.
