In Texas, we continue to pride ourselves in liberty, the right to hoard heavy guns, and own big trucks with very big tires. The essence of don’t thread on the lone star mentality is what has inspired many people to leave heavy governed States like California for Texas. But many now question the mindset of those we elect to run our dear state. Recently, Texas has led many states in aggressively attacking medical care for fellow transgendered youth and citizens, labeling it child abuse and enacting criminalizing restrictions. Medical therapy for fellow transgender Texans, however, has been accessible in the United States for over a decade and is backed by major medical organizations. So, how is it possible that here our elected leaders can sing the liberty tune and take personal rights away in a single breath?

Pastors say recently passed legislation is "harmful" to students. Following the Tennessee General Assembly's passage of legislation targeting transgender students, members of the Southern Christian Coalition spoke out in support of all students and inclusive policy.

The Republican majority in the Legislature passed the bill which was vetoed by Governor Spencer Cox. Then the Republicans were able to get enough support that the bill was passed again with an override of the veto by the Governor.

Florida recognizes the 'fastest woman swimmer' as the champion. Last week at an NCAA swim meet in Atlanta, transgender athlete Lia Thomas claimed victory in the women's 500 yards freestyle by a margin of over one second, swimming for Penn State. Her win has attracted a lot of controversy and criticism.

An Atlanta trans woman who served six months in jail after she was arrested over bogus drug charges in October 2015 was awarded $1.5 million by a federal judge. Ju’Zema Goldring, a transgender woman, was walking alone when was falsely arrested by two Atlanta policemen. The officers found a stress ball in her handbag with some unknown substance inside. After a narcotics test, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation found no evidence of illegal drugs but arrested her for trafficking cocaine.
