The Art in the Courthouse community outreach effort by the Clay County Clerk and Comptroller’s office announced its latest exhibit that will be on display Feb. 1 through April.

The Orange Park Mall is hosting their annual “Bestie Bash” on Saturday, Feb. 11 where children can attend with their best friends, classmates, siblings or parents to take part in Valentine’s Day-themed activities.

Hagan Ace Hardware in Green Cove Springs is hosting a “Ladies’ Night” with food, drinks and special sales on Saturday, Feb. 18. The event will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. specifically for ladies looking to relax and have a night out.

The BBQ & Bacon Fest returns to the Clay County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Jan. 21 and Sunday, Jan. 22. The festival will be the first of 2023, according to a Facebook post by the host, Buckler Shows, who also put on the Clay County Strawberry Festival. The next BBQ and Bacon Fest dates are scheduled for Jan. 28 and 29.

Visitors to the 2023 Clay County Agricultural Fair will get to experience the newly expanded Garber VIP Lounge during concerts — the only way to be “front row” for concerts, according to the fair’s webpage.

Orange Park Mall visitors will no longer see Taco Bell, Moe’s Southwest Grill or Island Dream Italian Ice in the food court due to lease expirations causing the restaurants to leave the mall permanently.

A new Human Trafficking Awareness “Art in the Courthouse” mosaic and photography display is now open for public viewing at the Clay County Courthouse, on the fourth floor. Clay County’s Clerk of Court and Comptroller office launched an outreach effort, “Art in the Courthouse,” that showcases different themes and artwork for residents and visitors to view. January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month, so current displays are centered around the issue and uplifting survivors, Court and Comptroller Public Information Officer Mary Justino said.

Clay County first responders and veterans are teaming up to host a fundraiser for a local 7-year-old boy battling leukemia. A chili cook-off will be held to raise money for his family.

The Baptist Clay Medical Campus in Fleming Island is hosting an event where guests can tour the new facility, get food from local vendors and win giveaways. The event previews the grand opening of the new hospital set for mid-December, a Baptist spokesperson said. Guests and Clay County residents can attend for free from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 10 at 1747 Baptist Clay Drive in Fleming Island.

The Keystone Heights Airport is celebrating its 80th anniversary on Saturday Dec. 3 as it is one of the 43 airfields from World War II built as a support field for Camp Blanding.

Santa will arrive at the Orange Park Mall on Saturday, Nov. 19 to kick off the mall’s holiday season. “Families are invited to wear their best holiday pajamas and help Santa’s elves find Santa to wake him up for the holiday season,” Orange Park Mall Marketing Director Catharine Wells said.

Clay County Director of Tourism Kimberly Morgan announced Thursday that Kayak Bass Fishing is coming to Clay County in the fall of 2023 due to a new partnership with the Kayak Bass Fishing brand, Clay County Tourism and Airstream Ventures.

Clay County will be participating in “Operation Green Light” the week of Nov. 7 in honor of Veterans Day. The Operation Green Light initiative aims to shine a light on the issues veterans and their families face, as well as the important resources available for veterans at the county level, the National Association of Counties webpage says.
