Hot Wells of Bexar County
Today we are visiting another historical site of San Antonio, The Hot Wells of Bexar County. Just along the San Antonio River and near the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park lies the Hot Wells of Bexar County. The first well originally dug in 1892 had water that was 103-104 degrees and because it smelled strongly of sulphur was used for medicinal purposes. It was once a sanatorium and later a hotel, and visited by the rich and famous. It changed hands many times and had been through multiple fires and rebuilt as many time. Now it is ruins which had deteriorated overtime but is now undergoing preservation efforts to maintain the history for the public. This is an amazing and interesting place to visit and a great stop to rest while walking the San Antonio River.
