Halibut Fishing on the Bay (Coyote Point) Multispecies Hookup
Trolling for halibut with tray anchovies and herring. The projected wind forecast was 6 mph, but it was blowing at least 12-15 mph. My biggest takeaway for the day is the hookup percentage using the hoochie. I was very surprised at how affective the hoochie was trolling. 3 of the 8 hookups was caught on it.

One Foot Long American Shad as Bait Equals BIG Striper!

The lake is boiling
Striped bass boiling season at New Hogan Lake in California are from the month of May to August, even through mid October. The whole lake will boil like crazy through out the day.
Garmin live scope chasing striped bass boils
Using my Garmin live scope to predict the next striped bass boil is insane. You can see where and when is their next move to boil. I can see big groups of stripes bass rushing from underneath giant bait balls pushing them up towards the surface and striking.
Aggressive big fish inhaled my lure
Chasing striped bass boils as the boil die down quickly and you just lost hope. A big striped bass came out of no where and slammed my paddle tail swim bait 2 feet off my kayak freaking me out, as I was getting ready to lift up my lure out of the water.
The whole lake is taken over by these fish
As the water gets warmer for most lakes, the striped bass are working their way in closer to the shallows. Here at New Hogan lake in Ione, California, the striped bass dominate the whole lake, they're are very picky which makes it very difficult to catch them. Stories, I have heard back in the days was that, someone planted some striped bass in the lake and now its over run by them. The lake is getting over populated which the regulations for striped bass is limit 10, no sizes different from most rivers and lakes here in California which is limit 2 and measuring at 18 inch. Their main food source are threadfin shad and that's what they only prefer. Finally the newest fishing technique has developed by joe show fishing and his awesome flies. There for fishing at this lake has never been the same anymore, fishing have been successful. During hot summer time in the morning and sun set the whole lake will boil with striped bass blowing up baitfish all over the lake.
