After all is said and done, Starved Rock State Park is definitely worth visiting. It is located only 1.5-2 hours from Chicago and it has great nature by Illinois' standards. Although it can definitely can get crowded, the crowds are there for a reason - the natural attractions are definitely worth seeing! Starved Rock State Park is an incredibly popular park due to it's great nature so close to the massive city of Chicago. However, just how crowded is the park in the warmer months? Here I show some of the popular areas of the park and give you a realistic idea of how many people to expect. "Eagle Cliff Overlook" is a notable point of Starved Rock State Park in Illinois due to the amazing view that it provides. From this overlook you can see sweeping views of the Illinois River, the surrounding greenery, and maybe even some boats cruising down the water. At Starved Rock State Park, we are currently exploring the "Wildcat Canyon" area - first, from above the canyon! The hiking trail provides a great perspective as to how tall and vast the canyon is. It also has a great place to sit on the edge of the canyon and let your feet dangle many feet above the ground! There are many hiking trails showcasing waterfalls, canyons, bluffs, the Illinois River, and other great sights in the area. Although this place is mainly used for barbecues, cookouts, and social gatherings, it's also a good place to snag some sights of the Illinois River and all of the green surrounding it (with little islands in sights as well!)!
