Astronauts Quarantined! SpaceX and NASA change launch dates
Kennedy Space Center has been busy as usual, and we are not referencing the very engaging and educational theme park aspect of the business. We are referencing the launch pad, where some of the coolest activities in Titusville are taking place. There has been a lot more focus on space with all of the recent launches happening, however the Crew-4 mission has had a couple of date changes already. The good news is the Axium Space Launch has indeed taken place on April 8th; this historic flight took the first private crew of four to the International Space Station. Originally the Crew-4 was due to launch before the AX-1 and due to timing issues, they traded places on the launch calendar.
Crew of The First Private Space Mission Arrives At ISS
The private four-space astronauts have reached the ISS and are on board the space station. SpaceX broadcast the arrival live. Less than 24 hours after Axiom's first all-private space mission, Ax-1 launched into space, the 4 tourists reached the International Space Station. Returning to the Moon starts now, Mars is next!
Do not look now, but the return to the Moon has begun with some pretty big, yet slow moving steps and an amazing end goal. Over at the Kennedy Space Center the long march has finally started towards the launch pad. Today, March 17th, 2022, the crews have began the journey to the Moon by taking the Artemis I rocket and the Orion Capsule on a grueling 4.4 mile mission to the actual launch pad. While this doesn't seem to be Earth shattering, the Artemis mega moon rocket will be moved at less than 1 mile per hour! The crawler transport does top out at .8 miles per hour which isn't too shabby when you consider the rocket and capsule combine for nearly 6 million pounds and is just over 322 foot long, so there is very little margin for error. NASA has already begun streaming the opening, here on their site - NASA Live | NASA.
