Our First Time at Soak City
In Today's Kim's Adventure we head out to Soak City Knott's Berry Farm. Knott's Soak City is a seasonal water park owned and operated by Cedar Fair. It first opened in Buena Park on June 17th, 2000 under the name of Soak City U.S.A. On this day we got to rent a private cabana which was really useful for our kids to come back to and rest between rides. This was our first time going to a water park and I have to say that it was really fun. The scariest one I went on was the Aqua Launch which drops you from a chamber. Anyways we had a blast and the kids can't wait to go back!
Is Marufuku Ramen in Irvine Worth it?
We had a serious case of the munchies so we decided to go to Marufuku Ramen in Irvine. Marufuku Ramen is the Bay Area’s well-known purveyor of authentic Japanese ramen, featuring a silky, smooth, 20-hour Hakata-style broth. It has opened a location in Irvine’s Los Olivos Marketplace back in 2021. The key process behind Marufuku’s luscious tonkotsu broth is a 20-hour cook time. In order to fully extract the umami flavor, this authentic broth is made by slow boiling pork bones. This slow-cooking process results in a combination of oily broth featuring a thick, milky layer of umami. Swimming in this thick hakata-style broth are specially selected “ultra-thin artisanal noodles.” Here, guests can dictate their own experience from the style of ramen, to the choice of protein and even the firmness of the noodle itself. This was our first time here, so it was now time to dig in.
Knott's Calico Mine Ride POV
Calicoo Mine Ride is a Tracked Dark Ride located at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, USA. The ride opened in 1960 and underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2014 with the assistance of Garner Holt Productions. Whenever I go to Knott's I love to go on the Calico Mine Ride as it usually gives me a much needed break off my feet. Although I believe my little kids were creeped out by the scary looking miners. I'm glad this ride is still in operation after all these years.
Summer Sawdust Art Festival
Summer Sawdust Art Festival open daily June 24 - August 28, 2022 from 11am to 7pm, Sunday to Thursday and 11am to 10pm, Friday/Saturday. Check their website for free days depending on where you live. If you park on lot 16 and take the trolley to the Festival its $7 weekday and $10 weekend. The trolley also take you to downtown Laguna Niguel for free. There is also parking meter in front of Sawdust and parking on-site is $20. Our kids love the trolley ride so we parked on lot 16. At the festival our kids got to do a few of their complimentary classes and enjoyed looking at the different arts and crafts to get inspired by other artists. Don't forget to take pictures in front of the butterfly. I felt like when I was taking pictures of the kids it was like telling them the three little bear story. Dylan was too big, Ellie was too small and Nolan was just right and perfect for it. He even got the antenna sticks out of his head
Joatngna Trailhead in Upland, CA
The Joatngna Trails is a 0.6 miles loop trail located near Mount Baldy that features chaparral covered hillsides and is good for all skill levels. The area was formerly covered by eucalyptus trees which burned in the 2003 Padawa Fires. Your destination will be the lookout to view Mount San Antonia which stands at an impressive 10,064 ft. Our family decided to check out this family friendly trail located near Mt. Baldy California. We were only there for a few hours, but we had a great time exploring.
San Juan Capistrano Mission Field Trip
Mission San Juan Capistrano was found in 1776, and was later damaged by the Capistrano earthquake in 1812. Restoration of the mission began in 1910, and today it is open to the public as a museum and garden. Adult admission is $14.00 and youth admission goes for $9.00. On this day Dylan took a homeschool field trip with a group of his friends to learn about the mission. They went on the self guided tour and were given devices that would aid in giving information about the various exhibits. Overall they had a fun time, but we could tell they were ready to go home and rest.
Akuma Ramen & Sushi Bar
If you have trouble picking between ramen or sushi, you can have both at Akuma Ramen. Not only that they have a cool anime mural that I've never seen before in any restaurant. We took a quick date night without the kids on the day that we went. The food was not too bad either, it wasn't my favorite ramen but it definitely won't disappoint. Plus if you leave them a review on the spot you can get a free ice cream but we were too stuffed for it.
Eating at Marufuku Ramen
Originally from Japantown in San Francisco, Marufuku Ramen is now here in Irvine California. They proudly serve the authentic Hakata-style ramen—featuring a rich & milky, premium Tonkotsu broth cooked for over 20 hrs to extract the umami flavor. We went here right after checking out the Dino in the City exhibit at Pretend City for some delicious dinner. There was so much flavor to this ramen, and it really hit the spot. I also assumed that the bowl was too small and wouldn't be filling but I was wrong. I barely finished without my stomach exploding. If it wasn't for the price I would probably come back. It's worth it to eat here at least once though.
We Love I Heart Boba
Had a great time boba tasting with bubble waffles with these awesome people at I Heart Boba. One of the best and unique boba we've ever had and they do catering for any kinds of events you may need them for.
Summer Fun at Knott's Soak City 2022
In Today's Kim's Adventure, we had the opportunity to experience Knott's Soak City which is Knott's Berry Farm's water park. As soon as we entered we met up with our friends from Look Who's Blogging and acquired the Malibu Cabana. The cabana really made a difference because it gave us a private space for our group to just sit back and relax. When we weren't having fun on one of their exciting water rides, we could go back to the cabana and take a nap. It comes with 4 tubes, 4 lounge chairs, a table with 4 chairs, water, service, and a locker to put your valuables. We highly recommend getting a cabana if you're staying all day at Soak City, it's definitely a game changer.
Knotts Summer Nights 2022 with DJ Lance Rock
We had so much fun hanging out and partying with DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gaba Gaba. Come party with DJ Lance Rocks at Knotts Berry Farm all summer long! The performance will be playing on select days from May 21st through September 5th. Check the Knott’s Berry Farm website for more details.
Dino in the City Exhibit at Pretend City
Dinos in The City blends life-size dinosaurs that will inspire the imagination for an unforgettable experience. The exhibit runs through September 5th at Pretend City which is a children's museum designed for kids to learn how the real world works. The museum is an interconnected city where children can assume various real-world roles and let their creativity rule. When we went there we checked out Dinos in the city and got to see all the animatronic creatures, as well as have fun at the rest of the museum. We spent about 2 hours there and it was time to go eat dinner, but Ellie was reluctant to go. If you come here, expect your little ones to never want to leave.
Ghost Town Alive at Knott's 2022
Ghost Town Alive returns to Knott's Berry Farm for the Summer complete with bandits, cowboys, judges and a western hoedown. We were able to experience the interactive western adventure and became the star of this season's story of the Wild West. It kind of felt like we were in a family friendly version of Red Dead Redemption. I was also impressed by the actors in the story as they were improvising their lines on the spot and totally believable. The kids got to join in on a ghost town competition, work at a bank, stop a robbery and go on a monster scavenger hunt. This experience was totally unlike anything I've done at a theme park before. If you are planning to go to Knott's this summer, go checkout out Ghost Town Alive.
World's First McDonald's and Railroad Museum Tour
Our family went to San Bernardino to check out the location of the world's first McDonalds, which was purchased by a Local Chicken Restaurant owner called Juan Pollo. It has been debated that this was not the first location since the Des Plaines Illinois claims to be the first, but that one was opened 15 years after. Watch the movie Founders to get a dramatized version of how McDonalds really started. The Original McDonalds has been converted into a museum of memorabilia, and was an interesting 30 minute visit. Then right next door was a world war 2 museum which we also checked out before going to have lunch at Juan Pollo. The chicken at Juan Pollo was comparable to El Pollo Loco and really hit the spot. We finally finished off the day by going to the San Bernardino Railroad Museum. By the end I was ready to go home and take a big nap.

Tasting Boba Milk Tea at I Heart Boba
In today's Kim's Adventure we are tasting boba milk tea at I Heart Boba Rowland Heights. We were invited to attend a special presentation by the business owner Ryan organized by our friend HuddleBee. After about an hour of mingling, Ryan started his presentation. Not only can you pick up a drink at their rowland heights location, you can now have them come to your event. They do everything from birthday parties, gradations to weddings. The first drink we tried was the Rose Gold Milk Tea which has been selling very well since day one. Ryan explained that they took rose petals and green tea and mixed them together. We tried 4 more drinks which all tasted delicious. And for the main course Ryan brought out his popular bubble waffles.
Yamaha Piano Recital at Fullerton College
Dylan has been learning piano at Yamaha for several years now, and they were doing their annual recital at Fullerton College. Fullerton College is one of 112 California Community Colleges, established in 1913, and it's the oldest community college in continuous operation in California today. The performance was being held in the Theatre Arts building, and it was a packed house. I was surprised at the turnout, and it was definitely great to see so many parents and families supporting the little kids. I hope this inspires the musical pursuit of all the children in attendance.
DJ Lance Rock Performing at Knott's Summer Nights 2022
Me and my family got invited to Knott's Berry Farm to attend a special preview of the DJ Lance Rock show. DJ Lance is best known for being a host on the popular Nickalodeon show, Yo Gabba Gabba. There were two different performances, the first one was called "Let's Play". "Let’s Play" is smart, energetic and takes place inside DJ Lance’s apartment. By using his imagination he invents a day full of fun and play for everyone. The second show is called Everybody Dance, an interactive performance that engages the audience through song. By singing his way through his neighborhood, DJ Lance helps spread good vibes and music. After the show, DJ Lance Rock did a meet and greet and Dylan got to display some of his cubing skills, which was really cool. The performance will be playing on select days all summer long, from May 21st through September 5th. Check the Knott’s Berry Farm website for more details.
Hong Kyo Chinese Restaurant is Good but Messy
Hong Kyo Chinese Restaurant is found inside the food court at The Source and they make Korean/Chinese dishes such as jjajangmyeon and sweet sour pork. Jjajangmyeon is a dish that was created by Chinese immigrants who lived in the Incheon region of Korea. It's a noodle meal topped with black bean sauce, diced pork and vegetables. Many of my friend that I've introduced to jjajangmyeon was initially disgusted, but once they got past the appearance they were hooked. My kids love it so much that they at least ask for jjajangmyeon once a month. Hong Kyo makes a pretty decent version of jjajangmyeon, although I think the price is more expensive than what you can get outside of the shopping mall. If you are in the area, you can try Jjajangmyeon out for yourself, but make sure you bring some wipes because it's messy.
Quenching Our Thirst at Roasting Water
At Roasting Water, they have an assortment of fresh smoothies, teas and coffees. Instead of using artificial flavors in their drinks, they create them using natural fruits and organic elements. They also advocate for recycling which is why they offer their beverages in reusable glasses that oftentimes having cool designs. Roasting Water currently has several locations throughout the LA/OC region, and today we're going to the one in Long Beach Town Center. We got the Almond Milk Tea, Strawberry Blonde, Nutty Banana and Strawberry Banana. It all tasted so cool and refreshing, we always enjoy their drinks whenever we get them.
