Hang Out With Us on the Gatlinburg Trail - in this video, we are just hanging out on the Gatlinburg Trail after dinner figured we would bring a different type of video to you guys so tag along and hang out with us! This video was shot on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus. There are only two trails in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that allow dogs. The other trails in the backcountry are off-limits for dogs because they could bring disease into the habitat for wildlife, leave scents and scare off wildlife, or be prey to other animals. 1. The Gatlinburg Trail is an easy pet-friendly trail in the Smoky Mountains. It is located on the Tennessee side of the Smokies, and it is 3.8 miles roundtrip. 2. Oconaluftee River Trail is located on the North Carolina side of the Smokies. This dog-friendly trail in the Smoky Mountains is also considered easy at 3 miles roundtrip. 6 Hidden Gems In The Great Smoky Mountains | Hidden Gems You Probably Didn't Know About
This tunnel, Thomas Divide Tunnel, was designed to keep hikers from having to cross over Clingmans Dome Road. More history on the Tunnel can be found here. How to get here: At the beginning of the road to Clingman’s Dome you’ll see the access gates and during December through around the beginning of March they are closed for the season. If it is not the off-season and the gates are open then you will drive up some and there is a pull-off on the right side of the road right after the access gates. If it is the off-season you can park in the Newfound Gap Parking Area and walk up the road. From the pull-off after the access gate, you will walk under a ¼ mile up Clingman’s Dome road to the stone bridge. The Tunnel is right under that bridge.
