First ever National Fentanyl Awareness Day
May 10th, 2022 is the first ever National Fentanyl Awareness Day, a day advocates, families, the DEA along with over 150 other partners will join together to raise awareness on the rapidly growing fentanyl crisis happening across our nation. People are dying at an alarming rate due to illicit Fentanyl, a synthetic opioid. The nation hit a record in overdose deaths in a single year, from 2020-2021 over 100,000 people died from an overdose. Overdose numbers have tripled amongst teenagers in the last 2 years. Fentanyl has been the culprit in more deaths of people ages 13-45 then any other cause of death, including heart disease, cancer and all other accidents. Our young teens are being targeted, and they don't even know it. 35% of Americas teen haven't had any education on fentanyl or any other type of illicit drugs. They are experimenting with death as drug dealers are flooding our streets with fake pills laced with fentanyl.

The 29-year-old, mother of four was found dead at the home of her date Isaiah James Crown, whom she met online.
Minors Rushed to Hospital for Sleeping Medication Overdose
Seven children in Hopewell, VA get into a medicine cabinet.(Andrey Popov/iStock) A sad story comes out of Hopewell, Virginia. Hopewell is about twenty miles south of Richmond. According to The U.S. Sun, seven children under the age of eight years old were rushed to the hospital on Wednesday evening because of a drug overdose. Local investigators believe one of the children gained access to the household’s medicine cabinet and administered prescription sleeping pills to six other children. They believe the child who accessed the medication was seven years old, according to Hopewell Police Department’s statement to the local CBS station.

Efforts to combat fentanyl use in Denver could cause more deaths
(Denver, Colo.) In the grip of a Denver fentanyl epidemic, advocates for the addicted fear laws to penalize drug dealers could cause more deaths. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid 100 times more powerful than morphine. "The highly addictive fentanyl originated as a medication to ease people's pain, and many patients turned to dangerous street substitutes when their prescriptions ran out," according to a University of Denver news release. "Nowadays, though, China is sending chemicals to Mexico, where fentanyl is manufactured, often in the middle of cattle fields to elude detection."
