This is in response to Abbott's increased scrutiny of border checks at U.S. ports of entry along the Texas – Mexico border.

In this video, we discover Carlsbad Caverns National Park and hike into the caverns through the Natural Entrance. The hike down is 1.25 miles and it descends 750'. For those that can't make the hike, they do have an elevator that can take you down to the Big Room. The Big Room is the largest cave by volume in North America. Carlsbad Caverns is 27 miles from Carlsbad, NM.
Free College Tuition Is Slowly Becoming A Reality
New Mexico's government recently attempted a first-of-its-kind experiment to provide free college tuition to all state residents. According to The New York Times, "A new state law approved in a rare show of bipartisanship allocates almost 1 percent of the state's budget toward covering tuition and fees at public colleges and universities, community colleges and tribal colleges. All state residents, from new high school graduates to adults enrolling part-time, will be eligible regardless of family income. The program is also open to immigrants regardless of their immigration status."

An estimated 1.4 million New Mexicans will receive checks up to $1,000 per household to offset steep prices for fuel and raging inflation. A $698 million proposal to issue a hefty new round of tax rebates and cash payments won bipartisan approval in a special session. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is expected to sign House Bill 2 into law.

Sitting Bull Falls Recreation Area is located just one hour from Carlsbad, New Mexico. This area features a beautiful waterfall and several clear pools of turquoise water to enjoy and a very nice picnic area. This area is for day use area- be sure to check the hours before making the drive to be sure the entry gate isn't closed when you arrive. It is $5 per vehicle. The picnic areas are very well maintained and the restrooms have running water. Plan on making the time to visit Sitting Bull Falls next time you are in this part of New Mexico!

The Northwest corner of New Mexico is home to some interesting landscapes! The Bisti Wilderness Area AKA the Bisti Badlands AKA the De-Na-Zin Wilderness Area is filled with strange rock formations and mysterious badlands. A couple hours further Northwest is an incredible rock formation called Shiprock. The main formation is a huge monadnock that rises nearly 1,600 ft above the surrounding land. The fin-like wall that leads into it is very impressive and one of the most interesting formations I have had the pleasure of flying the drone around.
