I recently spent nine idyllic days on the beautiful island of Bali, Indonesia, including four days in the southern part of Bali known as the Bukit Peninsula, and five days in Ubud, located to the north. Ubud, the cultural capital of Bali, is known for its beautiful architecture, vibrant green rice fields and terraces, lush vegetation, and numerous temples and shrines. It is a popular tourist destination due to its spiritual character, as well as the prevalence of luxury hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and galleries. We took advantage of Ubud’s central location as a base to explore other surrounding areas of Bali. For most of our trip, we had already planned our itinerary, and hired shared rides or drivers to take us to places.
