Over 450,000 locations in Michigan were left without power on Saturday following an ice storm that hit the state and brought freezing temperatures. The power-outage tracking website poweroutage.us revealed that more than 470,000 customers are experiencing outages as of Saturday morning. The southeastern part of the state, where the storm hit, is the most affected. Wayne County, home to Detroit, has the highest reported outages, with over 170,000 customers without power. In contrast, Hillsdale County has the highest percentage of outages, with over 65 percent of the 21,000 customers tracked experiencing an outage.

While Austin Energy reports having restored 91% of customers with power outages over the five days since an ice storm caused outages early Wednesday morning February 1, 2023, thousands are still without power.
