To Catch American Shad in the Sacramento River, Find the Seam
Da Captain and I revisited Rocky Shore on the Sacramento River for more American shad action. Most anglers know that American Shad travel in a very narrow straight line called the "seam." To have a successful shad fishing trip from a boat, anglers must be willing to relocate multiple times to find that seam. We fished the outgoing tide at 2:30 PM on Friday, April 8, 2022. However, we did not find the seam until around 5 PM. But when we did, it appeared like the shad won't stop biting. It is still early in the season, but we are elated to boat more shad from this trip. Thank you for watching.

Catching shad from shore can have you thinking you are in the wrong spot if you are not adapting correctly. Shad fishing takes a method to find where the fish are, what they’re biting, and how to catch them over and over. There are many times you can find yourself out fishing most if not all people on the bank if you are doing your homework on the shad. Finding them in the water column is the most important step, but I believe they are all equally important.
