Exploring World War 2 Lookout Bunkers (Pillboxes) on Top of Koko Head Crater
Once we reached the top of Koko Head Crater (hooray, it was a pretty difficult hike), we started to explore the various pillboxes. Pillboxes are old lookout bunkers from World War 2, and they are typically bright colors and heavily graffitied. They also make for pretty great view points, which makes sense!

At the very end of the Kuli'ou'ou Ridge Trail, you have to climb many stairs. It is extremely beautiful and the views are astounding, but it is a difficult section after a decently long ascent. Just wait until you see the views!
Walking in A Cook Pine Tree Forest in Kuli'ou'ou - They Are Fascinating Trees!
While hiking the Kuli'ou'ou Ridge Trail, we enter a forest consisting of Cook Pine trees. These are very fascinating pine trees that grow laterally, have bright green pines, and the pines look and feel like reptile skin. Hawaii continues to surprise me!
