# Growing strawberries
Berries from the backyard garden
Freshly-picked blueberries, variety is Sharpblue, an ever-bearing type, from the backyard edible garden for our oatmeal breakfast and also for Josh snacking at school. I also harvested a lone raspberry and two strawberries, variety is Chandler. Berries are very easy to grow in a home garden. We are also growing blackberry, boysenberry and goosenberry.
Strawberries and blueberries
Harvesting blueberries and strawberries from the backyard garden for breakfast and snacks. The strawberries were used on a simple rustic homemade crepe using crepe mix bought from World Market. The blueberries were eaten fresh for snacking. I'm up against the mockingbirds on the blueberries, so I have to pick them as soon as their color turns almost ripe.
Making waffles at home and picking roses from the garden
Weekends are for slowing down and lazing away and for me there's no better way to kick off the weekend than a pop in the garden to enjoy the flowers in bloom and pick some fragrant roses plus a delicious waffles breakfast with berries also from the backyard garden.
