# Growing grapes
Harvesting backyard grapes
Grapes are very easy to grow in our growing zone. We have two varieties in our backyard edible garden - blueberry grapes and perlette grapes. On this video I harvested some blueberry grapes for dinner. They are juicy and sweet grapes with a hint of blueberry taste.
Growing grapes at home
Homegrown grapes are juicy and extremely delicious! Grapes are very easy to grow here in Los Angeles and they tend to be very prolific. We have two grapevines growing in our backyard. One is Perlette, the green variety, and the other one is Blueberry, with purple-blue color and a taste that has a hint of blueberry flavor.
Stuffed grape leaves from our grapevines
What to do with overgrown grapevines that are sprouting all over the place? Harvest the leaves and make dolmas or dolmades or stuffed grape leaves, a popular appetizer or side dish with many variations from the Mediterranean and the Middle East. The arsenal: rice, chopped onion, minced beef seasoned with lemon juice, salt and freshly cracked peppercorns, and then wrapped in grape leaves.
