The Great Smoky Mountain National Park is the most visited in the United States. But at over 522,419 acres some places are a little more hidden from the common tourist eye. This small area has so much Smoky Mountains history. Every house has a different story and even the land around it is full of history. Hanging out in Gatlinburg our favorite shops. We made a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains over the summer. One of the best things to do in the Smokies is explore Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This small resort town is considered the doorstep to America's most visited national park. There is so much to do and find along Gatlinburg's famous strip, the Parkway. While visiting the Great Smoky Mountain Nation Park and Bryson City, NC, we fell in love with the Grumpy Bear Campground. This is a fantastic “mom and pop” campground with 19 full hookup sites, three cabins, and six teepee sites. Only minutes from both Bryson City and Cherokee, there are endless opportunities for outdoor activities, shopping, casinos, and great food.

Filmed January 2-7, 2022, we spent 5 magical days in the Smoky Mountains. This was the most snow we had ever seen in our life which was so neat! Beautiful powder white snow covered the Appalachian Mountains which was such a treat to see! Wildlife came out in Cades Cove (11-mile scenic loop road in GSMNP) In Pigeon Forge they have Winterfest every year which are a beautiful display of Christmas Lights all around the town that you can drive and go see! If you ever have the chance to take a drive through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, please take it because it is a beautiful sight to see.

We wanted to start checking items off our Tennessee hiking list, so we got up at 4am and headed into the Smoky Mountains to hopefully catch the sunrise over North Carolina. Well, though it was still beautiful, it was a bust.
