Come along on this short but amazing day hike on the Florida Trail from Bell Springs trailhead to Big Shoals on the Suwannee River. This was a great hike, Big Shoals is the only class 3 rapids in the state of Florida! Came over here to Palatka Florida from Jacksonville, (about an hour's drive) to check out the Rice Creek Conservation Area. He hiked in onto the Florida Trail and did a loop through the camping/shelter area and back out. This was just under a 6-mile hike for the day and was a great hike. Lots of footbridges to cross (36 of them), and some beautiful scenery. The parking area for the trailhead is right off SR 100.
