Children's Hospital Accused of Unnecessary Treatments Ordered to Pay Family $261 Million in Damages
For three months in 2016 – 2017, ten-year-old Maya Kowalski was involuntarily hospitalized at John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Maya was isolated from her family after the hospital staff determined that Maya’s mother, Beata, suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, and was intentionally making her daughter sick with potentially life threating treatments.
