After firing former head coach Jim Caldwell in 2017 even though Detroit had back-to-back winning seasons, the Lions have gone 17-46-2 over the past four seasons. The last time Detroit had back-to-back winning seasons before Caldwell was in 1994 and 1995.

The Detroit Lions have disappointed their fan base for decades, but they finally seem to have a collection of players that could actually give their fan base some hope. On of those players is wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who had a 78% catch rate last season (3rd amongst all wide receivers. That catch percentage should indicate how much St. Brown could be targeted this season. Because Detroit could be a surprise team competing for a playoff spot in the NFC, assume the Lions are going to do everything they can to get all their playmakers involved in the game plan. The Detroit Lions are coming off arguably the most exciting two-win season of all time. Head coach Dan Campbell has captivated the world and garnered respect around the NFL. However, wins must begin to pick up before the tide turns on the grit master. Luckily the Detroit Lions have the draft picks to bring a bunch of talent to the Motor City.

The Detroit Lions will be releasing edge rusher Trey Flowers, and the New England Patriots should really consider brining back Flowers.

It has been an eventful start to the offseason in the NFC North, with plenty of news and turnover. Dan Campbell is one of only two head coaches to return to the division this season, giving the Detroit Lions a little bit of stability. Still, the organization must now make the right Detroit Lions free agency moves, bringing in the right free agents to take another step forward.

Let's look at the Detroit Lions 2022 salary cap situation. This is a brief intro to NFL salary caps - and that makes me sound like a professor at a county college. Spoiler - I am not.

Lions general manager Brad Holmes will have the chance to address multiple needs in the first round, with two first-round selections. Detroit will draft at No. 2 overall and then again in the late first round, as the result of the trade from last offseason that sent Matthew Stafford to the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams' first-round pick will come somewhere between No. 23 overall (if Stafford & Co. lose in the wild card round) and No. 32 overall (if they win the Super Bowl).

The Lions were somewhat competitive throughout the game but I believe most expected Seattle to win. With no implications left for either team besides draft positioning both of these teams were playing for auditioned positions of next year and entertainment of the fans. Twitch: Hallonmars1

Today in sports history, the 2008 Detroit Lions became the first team to go winless in a 16-game season. With a 31-21 loss on the road to the Green Bay Packers, the Lions made sports history. The Lions were the first team to go winless over the course of a full NFL season since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1976. For Tampa Bay, however, it was their first season as an expansion team. Unfortunately for the Lions, it was their second winless season, with the other coming back in 1942.

Despite the absence of Jared Goff the Lions continue to be competitive and brought the game down to the wire. The return of Jamaal Williams helped the run game big time, and Amon-Ra St. Brown stepped up big time with some clutch catches for 91 yards and a touchdown. The Falcons almost blew it but defense came up clutch. Matt Ryan continued to ball out, throwing for an efficient, 18/24, 215 yards and one touchdown and Kyle Pitts continues to look like an All-Pro putting up 6 catches for 102 yards. The Lions took down the Cardinals in surprising fashion. Cardinals look far from the offense that started off the season 7-1. The offensive line is starting to look like a problem but with Deandre Hopkins not out there as well, they'll have to figure out how to adjust. Lions look they might have a .500 season next year which would be a plus considering how they've been doing this season. Jared Goff looked good and intend on investing into him it might not turn out too bad. Cardinals are still a shoe in for playoffs but will have to turn the tides soon in order to make a good run.
