Recently Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said "seniors may have to take a little less and pay a little more in" when talking about social security solvency. (source) Of course this is a major issue for those contributing to social security and also those who are receiving income from social security. With inflation currently sitting at 8.6%, the thought of receiving a smaller payment from the government or contributing more money to social security is very concerning.

Renters across the United States continue to scramble to find affordable housing as rents reach new highs each month. The median one-bedroom rent is now $1,414 a month, while the median rent for a two-bedroom unit comes in at $1,758 a month.

The latest numbers are out, and it would seem that the average price of homes in Florida has topped the average of all other states. Data from the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller U.S. National Home Price NSA Index, which measures the variation in property prices year-on-year in 20 metropolitan areas across the United States was reported on May 31.

Renters are sofa-surfing or taking extra jobs to avoid homelessness. A recent survey published by Florida Atlantic University has revealed the true scale of Florida's housing crisis, and demonstrates how the problem is uniquely Floridian.

Inflation in America is at an all-time high affecting millions of Americans, but these places are worse off than others due to the hordes of people migrating to these cities. According to a Redfin analysis report, these American cities are most affected by inflation. The sunbelt used to be a place where people would move to get cheap housing, cost of living, and warm weather, but this is changing as what was once affordable is quickly rising into an unaffordable nightmare. Common migration destinations for homebuyers are Phoenix, Tampa, and Atlanta. These American cities have the highest inflation rates in the U.S. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), prices were up 8.5% year over year in March throughout America, the highest rate in 40 years. 2% is what is an acceptable rate according to economic analysts and policymakers.

On May 12 it was confirmed that from this week onwards, some taxpayers in Georgia will begin receiving automatic refunds expected to total around $1.1 billion. The refunds were announced in March of 2022 when Governor Brian Kemp signed legislation (HB1302) that will return the funds as a one-time windfall payment to taxpayers who have filed a tax return in 2020 and 2021 tax years.
