Be the change you wish to see and start paying it forward todayPhoto byMaria ThalassinouonUnsplash. The concept of "paying it forward" has long captured the imagination of people around the world. Popularized by the movie "Pay It Forward," the idea is simple: when someone does a good deed for you, instead of repaying them directly, you perform a good deed for someone else. This chain of kindness can have a domino effect, spreading goodwill throughout communities and beyond. But is there any scientific basis for this concept? In this article, we'll explore the science behind paying it forward and how it can create positive change.
Charlotte's Climate Goals at Risk as Implementation Falls Short
CHARLOTTE, NC. - Despite receiving national attention for its climate efforts, Charlotte's implementation of its Essential Energy Activity Plan (SEAP) has fallen short of its zero-carbon targets. The plan, which was supported by the Chamber in December 2018, aimed to power the city's fleet and buildings entirely with zero-carbon sources by 2030. However, leaders in Charlotte now acknowledge that it is unlikely they will achieve that objective completely in time.
Divorce Came as a Surprise for My Husband and Me
This is what I marvel at. How things go versus how I imagined they would go. I am constantly shocked at the various turn of events in different areas of my life. How can I be so surprised each time when I keep seeing other things, even just very small things, not continuing as I figured they would?
Morgan State University tears down 80-year-old segregation wall in Baltimore
In a historic move, Morgan State University in Baltimore has torn down a “spite wall” that was erected more than 80 years ago to keep Black students from entering a predominantly white neighborhood. The massive red brick wall was located along Hillen Road in front of the school’s entrance and stretching past Northwood Shopping Center. The wall was approved for construction by a zoning board in 1942 after years of opposition and debate by neighborhood associations and white residents. The Afro-American newspaper chronicled the debate, with college trustees calling the plans for the wall “discriminatory to Morgan College.” Despite protests by Morgan State students fighting for civil rights in the 1960s, the barrier remained for decades until it was finally taken down on Tuesday.
Commentary: The City That Was
Enjoy what's here now because it won't last. After a couple of decades, any city is bound change. The changes just seem to happen more frequently in New York but maybe it's the same in Wuhan or Warsaw. Take the intersection at West 110th and Broadway. Since I moved here in 2000, three of the four corners have completely reinvented themselves. However, once our friend, The Virus, came to town the change-machine went into high gear. Witness what happened to The Good Stuff diner on West 14th Street (see above photos).
Opinion: Cultivating Organizational Change
Organizations are a hive of talented and skilled individuals. Pooled together their commitment is the backbone of organizational growth and success. For talent capital to be congruent with organizational goals, values and purpose teams rely on connectivity, trust, collaboration and accountability. You could say this is a partial definition of organizational culture. However, culture is more nuanced. And talent diversity brings with it differences in personal and lifestyle beliefs. The fact that diversity is a hot topic right now means that organizations committed to building diverse ecosystems should be attentive to the multifaceted perspectives of organizational culture. It is the single most important contributor for talent retention. It is the single most important contributor to organization reputation! With a fragmented talent ecosystem organizations hobble towards goals and reputation takes a nose dive.

Quick Fixes & Consistency
"This could change your life," said a man on the phone, who called me trying to sell me some sort of sales enablement tool that promised to find me new business leads who were searching for exactly the thing I am trying to sell. I didn't fault him for his overpromises. We've all overpromised something, sometime.
Opinion: What is Racism? (No, not that)
I’ve read the definitions and watched the YouTube videos and Frontline reports. I understand pretty much what everyone else understands it to mean. What’s lies behind or underneath it that makes a person not sit next to another human being, not smile at a baby of color, not want - ever - for their child to marry someone like that?
A Missouri mom decides to become contributor to news platform in desperate attempt for changes in foster care systems
When I learned of the most recent child abuse fatality in Missouri, I finally reached my breaking point. For the past 4 plus years I have been involved with the foster care system in Kansas and Missouri. I have been tirelessly battling with overloaded, understaffed, under educated, social workers that are immune from being held accountable if they make a mistake, miss an abuse case, or simply make a judgement call because of a "personality conflict" they have with a parent. These social workers are by themselves when they interview families that have been reported to the Division of Children and Families for various reasons. The majority of these parents being reported are or have abused or neglected their child(ren). Other parents have mental or drug use issues that affects their parenting. There are also reports against parents made by people that just want to "make them pay" because a parent is feuding with someone, and that someone retaliates by calling the child abuse hotline to make false allegations. When an overworked social worker deals with emotionally charged parents one on one it's the perfect recipe for mistakes being made. Throw in a social worker getting offended, scared of, or clashing with the personality of a parent and the potential of that mistake becoming a fatal one substantially increases. My husband and I didn't abuse or neglect our children when they were removed from our home. My very strong, vocal, and protective personality that offended a social worker is ultimately what caused them to take my children. The social worker that is assigned to my case is a habitual liar. With her status as a "social worker", her credibility isn't questioned by the courts. My intention is to write an article daily or weekly about the timeline and events of my involvement with the foster care systems. I want to share my story not only to help my family, but help the children suffering from abuse and neglect that are not getting the help they need because the system is focusing on our family, the wrong family. Unless people are personally involved with a foster care case they aren't able to truly, completely comprehend the significant amount of mistakes being made throughout the entire DCF system, resulting in innocent lives being destroyed. I'll also share my thoughts and feelings on changes that would benefit the foster care system TREMENDOUSLY, without taxpayers paying for it.
