FDA proposes changes to blood donation restrictions: Equality for gay and bisexual men in sight
SILVER SPRING, MD. - The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced proposed changes to the nation's policy on blood donations, which could finally level the playing field for gay and bisexual men who have long been denied the right to donate.
USF Blood Drive on 1/24
The University of Saint Francis (USF) will be hosting a blood drive on Tuesday, January 24th from 1 PM to 6 PM CST. This blood drive is sponsored by the American Red Cross, so there should not be any issues in regards to blood donation procedures. The blood drive will be held at the USF Assembly Hall Gymnasium located at 1550 Plainfield Road (US Route 30) in Joliet.
Red Cross Blood Drive at USF on 12/2
The American Red Cross will be conducting a blood drive at the University of Saint Francis Assembly Hall on Friday , December 2nd from 1:30 PM until 06:00 PM CST. You can register at the website of the American Red Cross at https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-timea blood drive. At the time of this writing, spots are open for appointments at 30-minute intervals throughout the entire afternoon.

Medical City North Hills Hosts Blood Drive, Severe Blood Shortage a Critical Issue Nationwide
North Richland Hills – In response to the lowest nationwide blood supply in more than a decade, Medical City North Hills is encouraging the community to donate blood. Partnering with the American Red Cross, Medical City North Hills is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, March 17. The Red Cross bus will be located in the hospital’s parking lot, 4401 Booth Calloway Road, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Community members may sign-up to donate online or by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.
American Red Cross Facing National Blood Crisis
The Red Cross which supplies 40% of the country's blood supply is facing its worst shortage in over a decade. According to redcross.org, the organization is currently pleading with donors to donate blood as the situation is putting patients at grave risk and making doctors choose who receives blood transfusions.
