Construction has begun on the New York Susquehanna & Western Railway Bicycle and Pedestrian Shared Use Path, a 4.8-mile trail project spearheaded by Morris County to repurpose an abandoned stretch of railroad.

I gained a new appreciation for two activities this past weekend. FPV (first-person view) drone flying and Urban Downhill Mountain Bike Racing. To be fair, I always appreciated FPV Drone Flying as it takes experience and talent to pilot drones in the ways that these pilots do. While FPV Drone Flying has always been in my orbit, I am a complete newbie to Urban Downhill Mountain Biking.

Various activities will be held during the week to promote biking as a sustainable commuting alternative. The week will kick off with a safety information session followed by a 13-mile group bike on Tuesday, May 17, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., leaving from the Druid Hill Park Basketball Courts.

The Marin Museum of Bicycling is a bicycle history museum and cultural center in Fairfax, California. We are a registered 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit, entirely volunteer-created and volunteer-run. We show the 19th-century evolution of the bicycle with the magnificent Igler and Kaminski Collections, through which visitors can see the fascinating development of this extraordinary vehicle, from the 1860s to the 1890s “Golden Age” and the turn of the 20th century. The museum is also the home of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, which was founded in Crested Butte, Colorado in 1988. We have greatly expanded the Hall of Fame displays to include numerous key examples in the mountain bike evolution. I was very impressed with The Marin Museum of Bicycling! Being part of the early mountain bike scene myself... it felt like stepping back in time. They have a very large collection of bicycles from the late 1800s to the 2000s. My favorite bike was a Pierce that had a shaft drive from 1894. It is an amazingly beautiful bicycle. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable also. For you TRAIN BUFFS there is also a very cool steam train exhibit of the Mt. Tamalpais railroad that ran up and down the mountain for 34 years.

In July 2021, my dad flew out to Salt Lake City, Utah for some fun, father-son adventures in the RV! We went hiking at Mt Timpanogos, downhill mountain biking at Deer Valley Resort, and rock climbing at Echo Canyon. Very fun to share the RV life with my dad and to share some amazing experiences! Did you know you can ride the newly restored Overseas Hwy to historic Pigeon Key? The bridge just reopened after a major 44 million dollar renovation started in 2017 making a multi-use pedestrian/ bike path. It is family-friendly and pet-friendly(but pets are not allowed into Pigeon Key) that is 4.4 mile round trip parallel to the overseas hwy. It is one of the coolest experiences in the Keys. The path is free to use with free parking but admission to Pigeon Key is separate. Have you ever biked the Overseas Highway?
