Join us on a Miccosukee Indian Airboat Tour in Florida's amazing Everglades! This has been on my bucket list for years. My friend Mark (who has lived in Florida for 20+ years) prefers the Miccosukee tours over the more touristy tours on the South side of the Tamiami Trails - more water, less people, more personable and down to earth. This is not the first time alligators have been found in Pennsylvania. Workers at the Lehigh County Authority (LCA) wastewater treatment plant were in for a surprise when they discovered a baby alligator living in the sewers at the end of April. “The critter rode up the climber screen with other solids and survived the journey,” according to a Facebook post from the LCA.

When you hear the stories about Alligators in homes and bathtubs in Florida, South Carolina, and other Southern localities perhaps you may have wondered if it were possible in the State of Virginia. Once upon a time, these reptiles were plentiful in the Commonwealth but not anymore. The alligator population once extended to Virginia, in the Great Dismal Swamp but uncontrolled hunting of the reptile in the 1900s is one reason for the extinction of the American Alligator.

GEORGIA - How Many Alligators Live in Georgia? Alligators are an everyday part of life for Georgians living south. According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, an estimated 200,000-250,000 alligators reside within Georgia's borders - most commonly found in the swamps and lakes of warmer regions of Georgia.

FLORIDA - Estimates suggest an estimated five million American alligators inhabit the southeastern United States; about 1.25 million reside in Florida alone. They are often found in freshwater wetland areas. Still, they may also be found in brackish water habitats and saltwater environments, where these aquatic predators reside. Their primary function is maintaining ecological equilibrium within their habitat, feeding on marine organisms from both communities.
