I went out fishing with Captain Nam Vu out of Freedom Boat Club San Diego on a Key West Center console boat. We searched offshore in Mexico waters and I was able to land 2 skipjack on live bait while Nam came home with a nice yellowfin tuna by dropping a colt sniper 42 gram Katy Perry color down deep and then grinding and cranking the lure back fast and he got bit on the retrieve. A San Diego sportfishing trip aboard Malihini out of H&M Landing in July of 2021 resulted in yellowfin tuna and yellowtail on the cedar plug troll, live sardine and artificial irons and jigs.
