It is important for both organizations and individuals to be aware of these biases and implement strategies to mitigate their influence.

A terrible accident happened today in the city of Charlotte, NC. Three people were killed and two others were injured after a scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Charlotte. Here are some tweets from Charlotte Fire Rescue: “Currently Charlotte Fire is securing the area... A family reunification area has been established,”. The two injured people were moved to Atrium Health Carolina Medical Center. According to a spokesperson from Mecklenburg County Emergency Medical Services Agency, the two were only suffering from minor injuries. Right now, the cause of the collapse is still under investigation and it is unclear what caused this to occur. All construction work at the site of the accident has come to a halt while the incident as a whole is being investigated.

This boss was sued due to his blatant pettiness. A man named Andreas made the decision to leave his position as an employee at an auto shop in November of 2020. Miles Walker, his boss, had a history of being incredibly poisonous in his opinion, so when he started making crude remarks about Andreas's daughter, he realized he had to quit.

Recently a friend asked me how to tell the difference between a boss that is a bit full of themselves, and one that is a full-on narcissist. Her question triggered a flurry of memories. I have had my share of “bad” or “toxic” bosses that were full of themselves. In my experience, they cause work to be a constant grey cloud of stress and made their employees' lives more difficult.

I have a confession to make that often surprises even the closest people in my life. My partner and I met at work. Those had a happier ending. Another story, however, was reminiscent of the many tales of women whose careers were ruined due to an affair, such as Monica Lewinsky. In contrast, the men continued without so much as a hitch.

What was once something we thought of as a possibility in the distant future is now right in front of our faces. The World Meteorological Organization says there’s a 50-50 chance that the average global temperature will reach 1.5 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial level in the next five years, at least temporarily.
