To drive down route 46 or just about any other highway is to pass through a manufactured landscape loosely designed by rough affiliation of private and governmental forces to fulfill a succession of needs: farming, mining, malls, and housing developments, New Jersey has it all. Sometimes this development can be beautiful, like the carefully planned and sculpted corporate campuses of Madison and Morristown, other times it can look like a housing development transplanted into a former strip mining site, like Clifton.

Mature trees are nature’s enduring treasures that hold immeasurable value for the planet and our lives. They purify the air, combat pollution, and provide fresh oxygen. Their sprawling canopies also create havens for diverse species, fostering biodiversity and maintaining a delicate balance in ecosystems.

While climbing Mount Epomeo, there were many different fruit trees, including tomato trees! This area of the world is famous for its red sauce, so it was really cool to see the plants that make it.

Whether you're down the shore or downing a pint of craft beer in the highlands, no other state in the union can claim to offer quite so much as New Jersey. Whether you're from Jersey or just passing through, the one thing you can't fuggedabout are the state's 39,000 miles of public roads, spread across 10 interstates and countless county and local roads in 564 municipalities. New Jersey is the Garden State and that garden is highly accessible and extremely popular on a warm Spring day. All that popularity means traffic and traffic means carbon dioxide. All that traffic, combined with a thriving industrial sector, a vast international port, and our location downwind of urban and industrial centers in Pennsylvania has stacked up to give Jersey some very challenging air quality results in recent years. But some New Jerseyans think that instead of talking about gardens and vehicle emissions, the state should be having a conversation about forests and trees.

It’s a great mystery to me why anyone works so hard to become mayor of this city because all eight million of us hate on the winner of every election with great exuberance and commitment. I got here just as Giuliani was making his exit which he enjoyed prolonging courtesy of Nine Eleven (America’s Mayor anyone?).

Morristown will begin its Tree Rejuvenation Project this week, expect delays around town. The town of Morristown has announced a tree well rejuvenation project set to begin on or about March 27, 2023. This undertaking, known as the Tree Root Invigoration Project, aims to improve the health of the trees, reduce maintenance, and enhance walkability in the area. The F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Company has been contracted to carry out the project, which will involve the installation of a Biochar soil amendment in existing tree wells.
