Russia Warns of Response to Lithuanian Restrictions on Trains to Kaliningrad

Following Lithuania’s decision to ban the transportation of specific goods from Russia to the exclave of Kaliningrad, the Russian government has vowed a response. Going into effect June 20th, they represent an additional effort to pressure Russia over its invasion of Ukraine this past February. Specifically, this recent ban by Lithuania is on goods that would pass through their territory via train which have already by sanctioned by the European Union. With restrictions on the only railway that exists between Kaliningrad and the rest of Russia, the goods being impacted by the ban include advanced technology, construction materials, metals, and coal.
Lithuania Ends Transit of Goods to Kaliningrad, Russia
Lithuania has announced that it will be blocking the transit of imports and exports by rail to and from Kaliningrad as a result of Western sanctions. Located between Poland and Lithuania, Kaliningrad relies in large part on goods and supplies being shipped in via rail from Russia. Home to the Russian Baltic Fleet, as well as a deployment location for nuclear-capable Iskander missiles, the Lithuania ban significantly undercuts the ability of Russia to supply the exclave.

Two Big Name QB’s Still Left To Be Traded
There has been a lot of quarterback movement in the NFL this season. Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos from the Seattle Seahawks. Tom Brady retired and then unretired 40-days later, and rejoined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Indianapolis Colts acquired Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons, after the Colts traded Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders. Marcus Mariota will replace Ryan in Atlanta, and Mitchell Trubisky will be replacing the recently retired Ben Roethlisberger with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Two names left on the trade block are Baker Mayfield and Jimmy Garoppolo. Baker is expendable for the Cleveland Browns after they traded the HOuston Texans for Deshaun Watson. The San Francisco 49ers will be replacing Jimmy G with second year quarterback Trey Lance.
