Of all the high school baseball teams across Clay County, the St. Johns Country Day Spartans made the deepest run in the playoffs that ended in a 5-2 loss to the Lakeland Christian Vikings in the 2A FHSAA Baseball State Championship.

The St. Johns Country Day Spartans baseball team will advance to the FHSAA 2A State Championship Saturday morning after they got an 8-3 win over the Westminster Academy Lions Thursday evening in the FHSAA 2A State Semi-Final.

St. Johns Country Day Spartans baseball team gets playoff win
The St. Johns Country Day Spartans baseball team got a 26-0 mercy-rule win over the First Coast Christian Knights in the FHSAA 2A District 2 Semi-Final. The game only lasted four and a half innings after the Spartans dominated the Knights on offense and defense. St. Johns had 12 runs in the first inning, six runs in the second inning and eight runs in the third inning. St. Johns had RBIs from over a dozen players. Those players include Shawn Andrade, Seth Alford (2), Kellen Brown, Mason Terry (2), Hunter Rodgers, Gabriel Gilliand, Camden Brown (2), Nick Bowden (4), Connor O’Steen, Trevor Bradley (2), Paule Janeczko, JD Hay (3) and Gavan Bradley. Hay’s RBIs came from his three-run home run in the bottom of the third.
