Los Angeles, the nation’s second-largest education system, faces a potential shutdown of schools after a union representing workers announced a three-day strike next week. SEIU Local 99, representing 50,000 education workers in Southern California, has been negotiating with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) for almost a year. After little progress and alleged "unfair practices," union members voted to approve a strike that will be held from Tuesday, March 21, through Thursday, March 23.
