Hospitals across the country are struggling to deal with labor costs that surged over the course of the pandemic. Between 2019 and March 2022, labor costs rose by 37% per patient. The largest driver behind this increase was the cost of traveling nurses, who earn three times as much as staff nurses. On top of those costs, worker shortages in every aspect at hospitals has compounded the problem.

The bill encompasses K-12 school teams, college sports, intramurals and club teams sponsored by school entities and requires transgender girls to compete on teams based on their sex at birth. However, Governor Tom Wolf said that if the bill makes its way to his desk he will veto it.

Chicago police are investigating the deaths of a man, and a woman found dead inside their apartment in a senior home in the Uptown neighborhood. According to NBC Chicago, police responded to a well-being check on Sunday at approximately 8:30 p.m. at an apartment building in the 1000 block of West Montrose Ave. They located two individuals, a 79-year-old man and a 61-year-old woman, dead in the apartment's bedroom.
Man Shot on CTA Bus After Argument
As violence continues to flood the streets of Chicago, incidents on Chicago Transit Authority are rising as well after a man was shot on a bus on Sunday. According to ABC 7 News, an argument transpired between the victim and another passenger on a bus in Lawndale's 700 block of South Pulaski. Chicago police said multiple shots were fired around 12:15 a.m., and the victim, a 31-year-old man, was struck in the right leg. The CTA bus driver halted the bus after hearing the gunshots, and the offender exited the bus and fled north.
