It is an amazing experience to see thousands of birds in flight. The amount of birds that come to Arizona every year is awesome. I am grateful for the Whitewater Refuge and that the land around is able to sustain the Sandhill Crane annual visit.
Sandhill Cranes at Sunrise at Crane Trust, Nebraska During Spring Migration
Largest migration of sandhill cranes in the world happens annually in the Central Platte River Valley in Nebraska. It is one of the last great migrations on earth. Over one million cranes stop here during their spring migration. This is sunrise at Crane Trust near Grand Island, Nebraska. I shot this video on March 15, 2022.

Over 1 million sandhill cranes stop in the Central Platte River Valley during spring migration heading north to Canada and Alaska. Rowe Sanctuary is a prime place to see the cranes. I shot this video on March 15, 2022.

Eastern sandhill cranes, once a common sight in Wisconsin were almost hunted to extinction with only 25 breeding pairs left in the 1930s. Decades of conservation efforts and curtailed hunting helped the population rebound to nearly 95,000 as of 2020.
