South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R) plans to file a petition to overturn an injunction of the state’s Fetal Heartbeat Act following Friday morning’s historic Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade. The law would effectively ban all abortions after 6 weeks in the state, but would include exceptions for rape, incest, fetal anomalies, or if the mother’s life is in danger. However, if a doctor were to perform an abortion outside of those parameters, they could face felony charges, up to two years in jail, and a $10,000 fine.

The revocation of Roe v. Wade will impact both major political parties. Questions have been renewed if Donald Trump, who largely built the conservative SCOTUS and is the primary subject of current January 6 hearings, can again win voters to his side.

Georgia joins over 20 states that allow constitutional carry. On April 13, Georgia's Republican Governor Brian Kemp signed SB319 into law meaning that constitutional carry of handguns is now legal in the state. In practice it means that any qualifying person can own and carry a handgun without first applying for a permit or having to undergo training.
