Thirty-two years ago, Vasily fled from Ukraine, which was still then part of the Soviet Union, to the United States. All he could bring with him was his family—four children and his pregnant wife, Marya.

Group presses Tennessee Senator on refugee policy during advocacy week activities. A group of Tennessee pastors affiliated with the Southern Christian Coalition called on Sen. Marsha Blackburn to support policies that would result in America becoming more welcoming to refugees. The move was part of Refugee Advocacy Week.

A group of Tennessee pastors affiliated with the Southern Christian Coalition called on 7th District Congressman Mark Green to support policies that make America a welcoming place for refugees. The group specifically singled out refugees from Ukraine and Afghanistan. The effort was coordinated as part of Refugee Advocacy Week.

Ukrainian refugees whose lives have been torn apart by war are arriving in the US in the hopes of restarting their lives. However, many are discovering that they cannot bring their beloved pets into the country because of the CDC ban on dogs arriving from countries, such as Ukraine, which are classified as high risk for rabies.

President Biden previously said that up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees may come to the United States. And since many cities in California have strong links with Ukraine, many refugees may end up settling in the state. Quoting an article published by The New York Times:
