Wow! It was over 100 degrees in Sacramento, CA! Fortunately, there are higher elevation lakes such as Fuller Lake (over 5,000 feet) nearby where we can escape the heat. My wife and I spent the entire day at Fuller Lake where the temperatures feel more like high 70s at most. It was a gorgeous day. We brought some baits along to catch trout. First two casts, within minutes, two fish to hand. That's the kind of catching and not fishing day! We met anglers nearby that had the same idea. When it comes to trout fishing, lake Amador located in Ione California is one of my favorite lake . One thing very unique about this lake is that, they breed and raised their own trout in their trout ponds. These trout aren't just ordinary regular rainbow trout, they're hybrid between a cutthroat trout and a rainbow trout, which its given the name cutbow trout. Now, these trout are a lot more aggressive than their regular brothers and sisters Rainbow trout. When its come to trolling on my kayak, I like to troll the rapala double jointed shad (15 feet deep diver). Usually, I've do really well trolling and as for from the bank, power bait and night crawler is the best.

For the life of me, I cannot seem to catch a Mt. Lassen trout from Rancho Seco Lake, CA. To my defense, not too many or none were caught when I am around either. This may be due to the fact that when these trout are planted in the lake, they are sedated from the long drive from the hatchery to the lake. Recently, one thousand pound of these Mt. Lassen trout were planted in this lake. I was there. I got to net one up to be released because it was foul hook or it did not take the bait by the mouth. I had a good day of fishing at Lake Camanche! It appeared like I couldn't do anything wrong for catching Mt. Lassen Trout. After many attempts to catch a big trout at this lake, I finally did it.
