A 28-year-old police officer, the father of two children, has committed suicide. The cop jumped from the terrace of a building. On Tuesday, after coming from an appointment with the department psychiatrist, around 12:30 pm, an NYPD officer Steven Hernandez, jumped from the roof of LeFrak City Apartments in Elmhurst, Queens. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The location is near the house of the NYPD Medical Division, according to the police, but it hasn’t been clear if officer Hernandez lived in the building or was just visiting the psychiatrist.

Christening Stabber Gets 23 Years for Murder
QUEENS - The man who fatally stabbed a guest during an arguement outside a Queens christening will spend the next 23 years behind bars. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced the sentencing of Antonio Martinez for stabbing to death a fellow guest at a 2019 celebration of a baby’s christening in Corona. Martinez argued with the victim before repeatedly stabbing him in the chest.
Pair Wanted for Beating, Shooting Straphanger with Gel Gun in Queens
QUEENS - Police released new photos of a pair of suspects who are wanted for beating, shooting a straphanger with a gel gun on a Queens subway platform. At around 4:30 pm on November 6, a 34-year-old man was riding a southbound Number 7 train when he was approached by two men. Cops say the pair first harassed the straphanger and then things got violent.
Gunmen Stick Up Smoke Shop
QUEENS - A pair of masked gunmen robbed a Flushing smoke shop and ran off with 10 grand during an early morning stickup. Posing as shoppers the two masked men entered the Continental Smoke Shop located at 107-36 71 Avenue at around 2 am on December 3. While perusing the bongs behind the glass display, one of the men pulled out a black handgun and threatened the clerk behind the counter. He demanded the cashier hand over the contents in the register.
