Proposed Law Requires Statewide Police Licensing Program
A new bill proposed by Gov. Murphy would require all law enforcement officers to hold valid, active licenses issued by the Police Training Commission in order to be employed as officers in the State of New Jersey.

Update: 674 weapons collected at 2 Morris County Gun Buy Back Events. The program resulted in the successful surrender of 674 weapons and participants will be reimbursed $104,675. A total of $100,025 was paid out in cash and IOU’s issued for $4,650, the value of 26 firearms.
Green Cove Springs teen arrested for child porn
Ernest Laster, 19, was arrested May 4 in Green Cove Springs on charges of possession of child pornography and transmission of pornography by an electronic device, according to a Clay County Sheriff's Office report.

An employee at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center allegedly embezzled $500,000 from the hospital by creating fake expense reports. The accounting clerk would create fake travel expense logs under the names of three employees and then divert money into his bank accounts, according to federal investigators. He was charged with theft by way of criminal information.
Missing California girl reunited with parents after one year due to a Nevada traffic stop
A teenager who disappeared last summer was finally reunited with her parents over the weekend. At the same time, her stepfather was arrested for her kidnapping. Katuana Nateya, aged 14, was found on April 16, Saturday during a traffic stop in Nevada. The chief of Crescent City Police Department in Northern California, Richard Griffin, revealed that Katuana’s stepfather Santos Flores-Roman, aged 39 years old, had an active arrest warrant against him for abducting the young girl. He has been taken into custody.
Middleburg man arrested for domestic battery on Mother’s Day, deputies say
Alexander Wehrman, 26, was arrested at Plankton Avenue Sunday and charged with domestic battery by strangulation, according to a Clay County Sheriff’s report. Wehrman allegedly spat on the mother of his child and grabbed her around the neck, restricting her ability to breathe, the report said.
Two Arrested After Sexual Assault on Popular Morristown Trail
Two persons-of-interest were detained Thursday afternoon in connection with the assault that took place on the Morristown Traction Line Recreation Trail. On May 6, 2022, a 17-year-old juvenile male and an adult, Lizandro Osorio-Mejia, age 18, were arrested in connection with the above sexual assault. These arrests came within hours of the public release of a composite sketch by the authorities.

The Philly Four: Fired officer charged with murder in shooting death of young boy
Fired Philadelphia police officer Edsaul Mendoza has been charged with first- and third-degree murder in the shooting death of 12-year-old Thomas Siderio. District Attorney Larry Krasner announced the charges relating to the March 1 shooting on Monday. New details from the shooting reveal that Siderio had allegedly thrown a gun away before he was shot and was on the ground. Krasner said that Siderio may have been surrendering when he got shot.
