The Seven Best Poke Places In Los Angeles
Here’s where you’ll find the best poke in Los Angeles. Poke: The pinnacle of beach eats. It's widely considered the hallmark of [pre-contact] Hawaiian cuisine in Los Angeles, starting with the standard of fresh-caught ahi tuna cut into cubes marinated in a simple dressing. Traditionally, it was served on its own. But now it's standard to serve next to warm, white rice and sweet seaweed salad—a humble dish with an important legacy symbolizing strength, survival, and celebration.
Florida Restaurant Opening in Town, Offering Free Food
Most established restaurant chains migrating into Arizona tend to begin either in the Midwest or in California. Both are natural moves, often attached either to the close proximity of California, or snowbirds who enjoy the winter warmth of Arizona and decide to eventually bring businesses they own out west. If you look around town, you’ll see all kinds of burger restaurants from Southern California, pizza restaurants from Detroit, Italian eateries from Chicago, and so on. So it isn’t every day a restaurant with Florida roots makes its way to the Copper State, specifically the Valley. That’s exactly what is happening, as a new restaurant not only is set to open in metro Phoenix after its move from Florida, but it will offer free food prior to opening as well.
International Restaurant Chain Opening in Phoenix
The inclusion of raw fish into the American diet took some convincing. When sushi shops began popping up 20 years ago or so the restaurants remained mostly a niche offering. Specifically for areas outside of major metro areas along the coasts. However, slowly but surely, more and more customers began sampling sushi, and now sushi is available almost everywhere you look. Most grocery stores now have fresh sushi sold, many of which have an in-house sushi chef to keep up with demand. The quest for healthy meals that already come portion controlled makes for a quick, easy, and generally healthy dining option for not only those considering a sit down restaurant, but for those who just want to grab their food and go. This raw fish craze has led to other food offerings that, while popular outside of the United States, is only now infiltrating it. Poke has only started to work its way through the country, and now, the largest international brand is opening a destination in metro Phoenix.

Mac Nut Poke in Waikiki: Hidden Gem Across from International Marketplace
Sato Seafood is located in the heart of Waikiki, across from International Marketplace and right next door to the famous Marugame Udon, who's lines are known by all that visit. While Sato is known for their fresh seafood, their take on unconventional poke bowls is what really stands out. One of their bowls known as the Salmon Aburi features macadamia nuts, seared salmon, and charredonions over sushi rice and gives the buttery salmon a slight crunch which meshes together perfectly. Their other popular bowl is the Hawaiian Munchies with fresh ahi, tenkasu, garlic chips, spicy mayo, and soy. This was definitely the most topped ahi we've ever tried, but the crunchy, sweet, spicy flavors all worked so well together. Locally Owned Chain Opens Newest Location
A local chain is opening a new restaurant.Jonathan Borba/Unsplash. When it comes to eating healthy, skipping the preservatives, and ditching the trans and processed fat that has a way of sneaking up into food, one of the best options to choose from is a raw fish restaurant. Sushi took the United States by storm years ago, and now it’s possible to find multiple sushi restaurants in just about any city in the country. And now, right on the sushi craze’s ankles, comes poke. This Hawaiian version of raw fish is served traditionally in a bowl, instead of a wrap. With the obvious similarities, one metro Phoenix restaurant decided to combine the two, and is now in the process of launching its fourth Valley restaurant.
Authentic Hawaiian Restaurant Now Open
Hawaiian food is now available.Jonathan Borba/Unsplash. Who hasn’t wanted to relieve their favorite vacation moments before? For anyone who has visited Hawaii before, this may mean sipping on a tropical cocktail while fantasizing about the ocean surf. But for anyone craving the island tastes and smells, it isn’t always all that easy to enjoy a plate of expertly crafted Hawaiian food. Most restaurants found on the mainland are chain restaurants, with few flavors that can stand up to what most remember when vacationing or on their honeymoon. However, a new Hawaiian restaurant opening in Mesa looks to change all of that.
