New Sullivan County EMS Station Opens in Bluff City at River Bend

The station at 135 River Road is named in honor of paramedics Phil Brown and Sabrena Carrier, who called Bluff City home. The paramedics were also volunteers at the Bluff City Rescue Squad, which continues to serve the area yet no longer provides ambulance service.

Sullivan County EMS is suffering from growing pains in the midst of an industry-wide shortage of qualified EMS personnel. Sullivan County Commissioners approved a pay increase a while back, that has finally been implemented to help those working the streets.

Emergency response times lengthen in Denver
(Denver, Colo.) As Denver experiences rapid growth citywide, its short-staffed emergency medical response system has had trouble keeping up. Responding to calls has grown more complex. Changing traffic patterns, vertical growth and the growing number of mental health calls have proven challenging, officials said.
Aurora may expand mental health mobile response team
Since September, a new mental health response unit in Aurora has been running and has already seen great successes, the city's homelessness manager said Monday. The Aurora Mobile Response Team pilot program likely will expand citywide this spring. It currently operates primarily in police district 1.
