Point Reyes Station, a small coastal town
I always have loved the town of Point Reyes Station. The Pacific Coast Hwy. 1 goes right through it. If you drive North from San Francisco on Hwy 1 you can't miss it. There's a once a week motorcycle ride/race to the Station House café every Sunday morning, called the Sunday morning ride. It starts every Sunday morning @ 7:00 A.M from the Arco gas station in Tam junction, Mill Valley, and goes to Point Reyes Station. If your not in the lead pack you won't get a seat at the café. Yes I did the ride many times until I thought I may kill myself doing this, so I stopped. Sadly riders do die almost every year. Point Reyes Station, which has the biggest commercial district, owes its existence (and obviously part of its name) to the railroad that ran through for 59 years ending in 1933. Originally it was called Olema Station. However, the main property owner, Novato dentist Galen Burdell, gave it its lasting name in 1883.
