Oakleaf football team begins 2023 season with new coach, quarterback
The Oakleaf Knights will begin their 2023 football season against the in-county rival Orange Park Raiders at home on August 25. Oakleaf finished the 2022 season with a 5-5 overall record and a 1-3 record in 4S District 3 play. Oakleaf will look very different from last year as the team will have a new head coach and a new quarterback.
Fleming Island Golden Eagles top All County football team with 18 players
Clay County Athletics announced the Clay County Coaches All County Football Teams this week. The Fleming Island Golden Eagles led the list with 11 players on offense and seven defensive/special teams players.

Oakleaf upsets Fleming Island Golden Eagles, 26-20
The Oakleaf Knights traveled to Fleming Island Friday night and upset the Golden Eagles, 26-20. Oakleaf was 2-1, and Fleming Island was 3-0 heading into their matchup. Oakleaf put this game out of reach because they forced three interceptions and a forced fumble.
Oakleaf High athletic director named interim head football coach as Garis resigns
Oakleaf High School Athletic Director Marcus Miller will be the interim head coach of the football team following head coach Frank Garis’s resignation on Monday. Miller will be the head football coach while also being Oakleaf’s athletic director for the 2022 season. The plan is to keep the current assistant coaches for the season. After the season, Principal Matthew Boyack and Miller will search for a new head coach for the football program.
