We had so much fun watching the big jet airplanes take off while we ate our lunch! And the best part is it is... FREE!

The mountains of Western North Carolina are home to some wonderful places and exciting activities to enjoy a memorable summer vacation. Located near Sugar Mountain, Hawksnest is home to one of the longest ziplines in the nation. There are 4 miles of zipline riding with speeds up to 50 mph and heights over 200 ft. There are 20 ziplines, including two over 2000 feet long, and two over 1500 feet long. The views are wonderful, and the guides were all friendly and fun! $70 per person.

A little over 4 years ago, Jeremy was offered a job in North Carolina. When he accepted the position in Winston-Salem, we were excited to go start our new life together. Winston is conveniently located between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean.

Red wolves, the world’s most endangered wolf, native to the southeastern United States, have dwindled to only a handful in the wild scattered across parts of eastern North Carolina. Red wolves were listed as endangered in 1973 under the Endangered Species Act.

In February, the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission voted to allow to limited permit-only hunting opportunities in three bear sanctuaries, covering an area of 92,500 acres of mountainous forest. Bear hunting has been banned in North Carolina’s Panther town-Bonas Defeat, Standing Indian and Pisgah Bear sanctuaries since 1971.The sanctuaries are set to open to hunters later in 2022.
