NYC Council allocates $1.2 Million to support migrant communities
New York City Council finds money to spend supporting non-profits supporting migrants. On Wednesday, the announcement was made to give $1.2 million to these organizations. Council Speaker Adrienne Adams made the announcement. She said the money was pulled from another initiative called the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD). This was leftover money and needed to be spent as the fiscal year for The City ends in four months.
Governor Hochul’s Money Only Covers 29% of Mayor Adam’s Migrant Budget
New York Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced providing funding for one of her mayors. Unfortunately, the money won’t cover 100% of what’s needed. Mayor Adams announced how much supporting migrants will cost. His figures included this year for $2.6 billion. Then the City Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli said the numbers don’t tell the who story as he needs to account for FY 24, FY 25, and FY 26.

President Joe Biden stopped in New York City on Tuesday to announce $292 Million in funding for the Hudson Tunnel Project that connects New York City and New Jersey. A White House official said a new tunnel will be built that connects Palisades, the Hudson River, and the waterfront area in Manhattan.
