Mystic, Connecticut - New Yorkers often dream of day trips to nearby destinations for a relaxing weekend. Fortunately, Mystic is only one minute away by car and just 7 minutes on foot from downtown's train station.

Mystic Baba Vanga passed away in 1996, but not before leaving behind a series of future predictions all the way to 5079. Step aside Nostradamus, this mystical fortune teller’s followers claim she has an 85% success rate with her predictions thus far and has predicted everything from the 9/11 Twin Tower attacks to Brexit. Born in Bulgaria in 1910, Baba Vanga became well known during the second world war, and was the subject of a 2011 documentary called ‘The Visible and Invisible World’. She has left predictions until 5079.

Mystic, Conn. - Firefighters spent hours fighting a massive fire in the seaport district of Mystic. At approximately 9 pm on Sunday, November 27th, the Mystic Fire Department, along with mutual aid companies, were dispatched for reports of smoke and flames visible from Seaport Marine, in the area of 2 Washington St. As 1st alarm companies received their tones, a 2nd, and subsequent 3rd alarm, were immediately transmitted for a fully involved structure fire. A short time later the 4th alarm was transmitted followed by additional tankers and FAST teams.

We enjoyed a full day walking around admiring the ships (and exploring them!) plus, we learned TONS about how the ships are constructed, kept, and the history behind some of the ones on site. This interactive museum is a great place for the whole family, from curious kids to history buffs.
