Haunted Castle Dark Ride in Santa Cruz
Yo got to love this Classic Dark Ride - Haunted Castle. I love riding it every time I go to the boardwalk. He's a little history of the ride: In 2006, Boardwalk managers began planning for an extremely significant overhaul of the ride, one that would once again embody the latest dark ride technology. R&R Creative Amusement Design of Anaheim, CA provided creative direction. A brand new storyline afforded guests with a coherent and consecutive glide through an intricate castle motif with its eerie sights and noises. A few old pop-up figures were recycled from the previous ride. Concept We designed the ride to appeal to a broader age range. The I.E. Park Company of Italy constructed new double-seat cars, capable of rotating. It was no small feat for that distant company to manufacture the multi-level trackage. Riders now entered backward down a spiral descent into a darkened 10,000-square foot basement, a space two-thirds larger than its predecessor.
Capitola by the sea is a great little beach town.
When I moved to California from Texas in 1971, this was the first place I lived. I have a lot of great memories of this seaside town. The original settlement now known as Capitola grew out of what was then called Soquel Landing. Soquel Landing got its name from a wharf located at the mouth of Soquel Creek. This wharf, which dates back to the 1850s, served as an outlet for the produce and lumber grown in the interior. In 1865, Captain John Pope Davenport, a whaleman at Monterey, moved his operations to be near the wharf. Unable to capture any whales, he moved his operations to Point Año Nuevo the following year. In 1869, Frederick A. Hihn, who owned the property in the vicinity of the wharf, decided to develop it as a seaside resort. At first, he leased the area to Samuel A. Hall and the area became known as Camp Capitola. Most authorities believe that it was Hihn who chose the name of Capitola, but they are unsure as to why he did so.

Perfect dinner spot in Monterey: Mezzaluna Pasteria & Mozzarella Bar
Mezzaluna Pasteria & Mozzarella Bar: 1188 Forest Ave, Pacific Grove, CA 93950 If you are ever in Monterey, I highly recommend visiting Mezzaluna Pasteria & Mozzarella Bar (please excuse my pronounciation🤣) for dinner. It was the best Italian food I’ve ever had since moving to Northern California. Mezzaluna Pasteria & Mozzarella Bar makes fresh pasta, mozzarella, and gelato daily and offers spectacular service. Even though we visited on a cold and rainy day, the restaurant was still packed and lively that night. It’s definitely the local’s favorite too. The restaurant offers online reservations and has a small bar that makes handcrafted cocktails. The restaurant is small but cozy. We ordered the Ravioli di Manzo and Rigatoni alla Buttera and we loved them both. It reminded me of my favorite Italian restaurant in LA. I can’t wait to go back again when I’m in the area!
Shark Fin Cove, a Beautiful Hidden Beach in Northern California
We stumbled upon Shark Fin Cove by chance during our road trip along the California coastline. It was meant to be a quick stop for us to stretch our legs. However, we couldn’t get enough of this beautiful place. Shark Fin Cove is a gorgeous secluded beach that is named after a massive rock that resembles a shark fin out of the water. It’s easily one of the most beautiful beaches that we have come across in Northern California. Shark Fin Cove also goes by other names such as Shark’s Tooth Cove, Davenport Cove, and Jah Beach. This place is easy to get to but you have to know where to look.
